Originally, the forecast was for rain through the morning. But as I have always been told, anything more than 24 hours out is often a coin toss … and … if you don’t like the weather in Missouri, wait ten minutes.

Forecast

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 71. South southeast wind 10 to 14 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Current Radar (0740 hours CDT)

An interesting little tidbit regarding this wide view of the Midwest National Radar composite is that there are three separate tornado warnings north of St Louis. All three are radar indicated rotations, not information showing tornados viewed by trained spotters or law enforcement. These warnings were dropped while I was working this article.

Another interesting piece of information that I picked up was from Reed Timmer’s live feed last night. As he was shutting down for the night, he mentioned that it could be a very active day/evening in Southeast Kansas, through southern Missouri, and Arkansas. Currently no threat to the Kansas City area.
