The voters have spoken. Missouri Constitutional Amendments 4 and 5 were not just rejected, but soundly rejected. Accounting to sources on the Internet, Amendment 4 was rejected by 80.3% (vs 19.7%); Amendment 5 by 83.3% (vs. 16.7%).
As I have stated in the past, I am not Repubican nor Democrat. I am an Independent. I am going to vote the way I feel is best for the citizens of this state and this country. So it doesn’t hurt my feelings at all that the Republicans had a realy bad day yesterday at the polls. As one commentator put it, the people of Missouri gave the Republicans the middle finger in their attempt to raise taxes and take away the power of the people in this state.
Does that mean that I think the Democrats would do any better? No. Not as long as they are the party of the Socialist and Liberals trying to destroy this country. What we, the citizens of Missouri need to do is make a change across the board. Get out the old guard, and get some people in there, regardless of party affiliation, who will work for the people instead of their partiy’s agenda. We need to make it well known that we don’t care how many financial supporters you have, if you dont’ represent the people first, the people will take you right back out of office. You are servants to the people of this state, not the financial, corporate or foreign entities that are banking your elections. Remember, that the original political leadership were NOT paid to do their jobs, they were only give their expenses for their service.

Gov. Mike Kehoe tried to put a positive spin on the outcome that saw only 1 in 5 voters support his plan to phase out the state income tax, saying his work to make Missouri more competitive with other states is not over.
“I remain committed to working with the General Assembly in the years ahead on ways to continue cutting taxes, growing our state’s economy, and pursuing conservative policies that help Missouri families keep more of what they earn,” the Republican governor said before departing for a four-day trip to Panama.
