And now, thanks to some fast food workers posting on Reddit, the not-so-nice insider secrets have been revealed. We sifted through several threads to see which menu items are the worst culprits. And it’s not just a case of funny food fails or horror stories like employees using utensils to style their hair in the kitchen—some of these tips are really practical. Like, if you’re in a big rush, chicken might not be your best bet.
21-year-old Pennsylvania man arrested in alleged ISIS-inspired firearm plot: DOJ

A 21-year-old man is accused of receiving a firearm and ammunition in support of ISIS, according to the Justice Department.
Jonathan Hunter Kramer, 21, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, had allegedly been going by the name “Hamza Al Rashid” and allegedly claimed affiliation with ISIS, offered to share explosive manuals with others and expressed his intent to prepare for his “mission” and that he was just missing a “weapon,” according to the DOJ’s federal criminal complaint.
AI data centers strain an electric grid built for a different era

Earlier this year, Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced a bill calling for a federal moratorium on new AI data center construction. The proposal would halt all AI infrastructure buildout until laws are enacted to curb environmental impacts, prevent job displacement, and ensure the facilities don’t push up utility costs.
It was a sign of a system breaking under pressure it wasn’t built for. More data center projects were delayed or blocked in a single quarter last year than in the previous two years combined, according to Data Center Watch. Interconnection queues that were already years long have gotten worse. Gas turbines needed to power facilities are backordered through 2028.

Update Sept. 9, 6:05 p.m.: The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to block the decision from the federal court for the Eastern District of Missouri, leaving the state with competing rulings. The decision has been appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Update Sept. 10, 11 a.m.: The U.S. Supreme Court issued a stay of the lower federal court’s order, blocking election officials from using the gerrymandered 2025 maps. The underlying case, Onder vs. Missouri, will still be litigated in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and could be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court again.
After a flurry of court rulings, Missouri’s congressional redistricting maps are in a paradoxical state.
Meet the first active teacher appointed to Missouri’s State Board of Education

On Aug. 18, Mike McDonald made history when he attended his first meeting as a member of the Missouri State Board of Education.
McDonald teaches math at Park Hill High School.
Normally, the state board is made up of lay members who aren’t active in education. But in 2018, the Missouri General Assembly created a nonvoting role on the board for a current classroom teacher. Gov. Mike Kehoe filled that position for the first time by appointing McDonald this summer.
