Imagine my amusement as I was listening to a local conservative talk radio station when President Donald Trump’s voice came over the speakers promoting the sale of the Trump Watch. That was the one I heard first. Then, on Sirius XM I heard the advertisement for the other product that President Donald Trump is now hocking. Sneakers. “What the fuck?” I thought to myself. Since when does the President of the United States sell watches and shoes to commemorate their election to the office of President. I had never heard anything like this in my long life.
Now, brace yourself. If you find this amusing and would think that owning something like this, consider that the watch pictured above sells for $799. And there are a selection of watches that range up into the 1 to 3 thousand dollar range. Yes, they are a limited edition, according to the web site, but to be honest I don’t think I know any common Trump supporters that can afford to lay down the money they want for the watch collections.
And then there are the sneakers. Again, there are a number of options, all shown as limited editions. And while it isn’t all that unusual for a person to spend $300 dollars on a pair of sneakers, the pair in the image to the left are not worth $299 in my opinion.
So, why? Yes, President Trump is a business man. But tell me that this doesn’t cheapen his image. That this won’t play into the claims against him that he is focusing on making himself wealthier. Couldn’t this garbage have waited until he had run out his time as President of the United States? All I know is that it has me shaking my head.
