Time’s Up

As I have stated before … the choice of the next President of the United States is coming down to the “Lesser of Two Evils.” All I know is that in three days (Wednesday Nov 6th) all of the Political Ads will finally disappear. What will begin will be the allegations that the Election was stolen … again. It will not make a difference who wins the election, the other side will likely claim that something nefarious took place that stole the will of the people.

I am not a Republican or Democrat. I consider myself a Libertarian, I believe in less Government, that our government has over-reached it’s authority and things will only get worse regardless of which party comes into power. I am an Independent when voting on issues and on candidates. I look at the facts, which I can weed through the lies to see them. And the fact here is simple. We needed an asshole in the White House when Trump was elected the last time, and we need one once again.

Amendment 2

Do you want to amend the Missouri Constitution to:

  • allow the Missouri Gaming Commission to regulate licensed sports wagering including online sports betting, gambling boats, professional sports betting districts and mobile licenses to sports betting operators;

The political ads claim that legalizing Sports Betting in Missouri will bring 100 million dollars to support Education. What you are not hearing is that this 100 million dollars is estimated over a long period of time, like 20 years. What you are not hearing is that when they legalized River Boat Gambling in Missouri, they claimed money to Education. However, when that money was brought in, the State Legislature took the same amount of money out of the budget for education, so there was NO additional funds. If you’re voting for Amendment 2 because you want to be able to bet on Sports in Missouri, then go for it. If you think you’re helping Education … well … don’t count on it.

My position? NO. Why? Because there are very few examples where Gambling has done anything but create problems for the communities it’s allowed in. Yes, Sports Gambling is allowed in the states surrounding Missouri, but it doesn’t benefit anyone but the organizations who had come out to support it, including the sports teams.

Amendment 3

Do you want to amend the Missouri Constitution to:

  • establish a right to make decisions about reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives, with any governmental interference of that right presumed invalid;
  • remove Missouri’s ban on abortion;
  • allow regulation of reproductive health care to improve or maintain the health of the patient;
  • require the government not to discriminate, in government programs, funding, and other activities, against persons providing or obtaining reproductive health care; and
  • allow abortion to be restricted or banned after Fetal Viability except to protect the life or health of the woman?

There is a lot of information being claimed by the Pro-Life movement and with their history of lies in order to push their agenda I find their claims hard to believe. I would highly recommend that those with concerns regarding this matter read the Amendment. Most of the reviews I have found are claiming that this is a scare tactic to sway people away from voting for the Amendment. I’m sorry, I am not a supporter of Abortion, but it is not my place to regulate what another person can or cannot do with their own bodies.

My position: YES. As I have already stated, I don’t believe we have the right to tell another person what they can or cannot do with their body, as long as they are of legal Adult age (18).

Amendment 7

Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to:

  • Make the Constitution consistent with state law by only allowing citizens of the United States to vote;
  • Prohibit the ranking of candidates by limiting voters to a single vote per candidate or issue; and
  • Require the plurality winner of a political party primary to be the single candidate at a general election?

This may sound like a waste of time to some people, but there have been states where they have already allowed non-citizens to vote in local elections. This was described by one supporter as a preventative measure.

My Position: YES. Only U.S. Citizens should be able to vote in any election within the United States. Only Citizens of a State or Community should be allowed to vote on issues for that State or Community. We don’t need to open a door for outside influences.

Proposition A

Do you want to amend Missouri law to:

  • increase minimum wage January 1, 2025 to $13.75 per hour, increasing $1.25 per hour each year until 2026, when the minimum wage would be $15.00 per hour;
  • adjust minimum wage based on changes in the Consumer Price Index each January beginning in 2027;
  • require all employers to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every thirty hours worked;
  • allow the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to provide oversight and enforcement; and
  • exempt governmental entities, political subdivisions, school districts and education institutions?

State governmental entities estimate one-time costs ranging from $0 to $53,000, and ongoing costs ranging from $0 to at least $256,000 per year by 2027. State and local government tax revenue could change by an unknown annual amount depending on business decisions.

Just incase you haven’t noticed, the increase in wages in areas traditionally considered ‘entry-level’ jobs has already drove up prices, and has encouraged some restaurants to bring in automated ordering systems. Walmart has increased the number of self-checkout lines. They have introduced apps where you can scan prices of items you pick up, pay for it with your app, and then simply bag your purchases as you are leaving. Ordering food in advance, then simply picking it up, eliminating the need for cashiers in many cases. Increase the cost for employers, for company owners, and they will make up the difference (and then some) by charging you more or cutting services.

And then, as wages in the entry level jobs go up, there will be those who demand that they be paid more because of their skills and experiences. It is not fair that someone learns a trade and then finds out that they are only making a few dollars more than some kid babysitting a computerized cooking process that requires little training and no skills. Those wages go up, and more prices climb. it’s a vicious circle. You force wage increases, prices climb and eliminate the increases.

My position: NO. Take notice that the Government entities, school districts and educational institutions are exempt. And yes, the Government will support this because it will bring in more taxes.
