Without warning, eight Applebee’s restaurants in the Kansas City area closed their doors on October 30th. This leaves only two Applebee’s Restaurant open in the area, the store on 7 hwy in Blue Springs, and on NE Antioch Road in the Northland. Information that has come out on the radio in the days that have followed is that the Franchisee has filed for Bankruptcy.
“This location has been permanently closed. Thank you for being our neighbor. We’ve enjoyed serving you.”
Can I say that I’m disappointed? Frankly, no. Two of the stores which have been closed (Raytown and Lee’s Summit) were major disappoints when I visited their stores. I’m not going to critique the stores here, I said my peace in Google Reviews and on Yelp. I am happy that my favorite location was not one of them that closed.
Looking at Google, each of the stores which have been closed are currently listed as Temporarily Closed. The main company did make a statement that they are looking into trying to reopen these stores, but there have been closures in the past, and at least one of the stores has struggled with issues that I am aware of from local news, so we will see what happens.
