The Kansas City Phantoms (2-8) faced off against the Dallas Marshals (6-4) on Saturday Night at the Silverstein Eye Center in Independence Missouri.  And while the opening drive seemed to result in an easy touchdown for the Dallas Marshals, the Phantoms came back on their first possession and NEVER LOOKED BACK.  The final Score … Kansas City 48, Dallas 42.

And for the second home game in a row, the Phantoms paid tribute to an important cause.  Week 12 was Breast Cancer Awareness, wearing specially designed Jerseys for the game.  Week 13 was First Responders Recognition, with another custom Jersey created for the game.  In both games, a number of Jersey’s were auctioned off, and for the second week in a row, we came home with one of them.

LOOKING FORWARD – Week 13 is already being promoted as Military Appreciation Week.  It will be more than likely that they will once again have a special jersey for the game, and again, there will likely be an auction of the jersey’s afterwards.  But let’s look at the battle in front of us.

North Division First Place Sioux City Bandits (9-2) come to Kansas City to face the now 3-8 Phantoms.  The team has grown a lot in the past several games, and are coming in on a two game winning streak.  The last time the teams faced off, our Quarterback was struggling.  Now we have a more agile rushing Quarterback who has proven his ability to score.  The only concern is his tendency to throw the ball away for an interception when trapped in the backfield.  It isn’t out of the question, so dare we ask … can the Phantoms take down the Bandits?  It should be an interesting final home game for the Phantoms, and with the recent promotion for ticket sales, we are hoping for a strong and loud crowd close to the field.  As for Michelle and I, we are back on the Wall at Mid-field.

Road Trip #1 – Branson Missouri

It had been a long, long, long time since Michelle and I had made a trip down to Branson Missouri.  In fact, the last time we went down to Branson was before we got married, about two years before we got married.  We knew that the place would have changed over the past 25+ years.  We knew that it had changed a lot, especially with certain investors trying to turn Branson into Nashville West. On the Road Again

May 24, 2017

Michelle and I were talking about how we’re not as active as we used to be.  We got to talking about some of the places we’ve been, the things we’ve done, and the things that we would like to do.  The problem was that we had two vehicles that were not very travel friendly.  There was the 2000 Ford Expedition with 200,000+ miles that was starting to have more and more issues and only got 13 miles to the gallon.  Then there is the 2006 Dodge Caravan with over 200,000 miles, that while it gets better gas mileage, was getting to a point where we weren’t feeling too comfortable taking on long trips.  So I went in search of a new vehicle, and what we ended up with was a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.

So, at an average of 25 miles per gallon between highway and city driving, taking road trips is going to be a bit more economical.  So, the road trips begin, and this section of my blog will chronicle our adventures.  So keep an eye out.
